Process Engineer

Since 1996, Waste Treatment Technologies (WTT) has been focused on organic/green waste processing. Our products include biogas, composting, air treatment, and heat harvest. Our most recent emphasis is on heat harvest and enhancing biogas quality. With a global presence, we observe that many countries are altering waste processing regulations, resulting in a growing demand for our sustainable expertise and products. Due to the growth and scope of our projects, we’re seeking a Process Engineer to tackle these endeavors alongside a team.

As a Process Engineer, you are responsible for managing international projects, whilst keeping quality, risk, opportunities, timing, budget, and costs under control. You inspire and lead our project teams to create value for our clients. In addition, you are the first point of contact for our clients, and they can count on your commitment and communication about progress. You make it a habit to understand first before you seek to be understood. You are responsible for the project plan, and you report on the project status and results. You work closely with your team, but also with colleagues from other teams and in other countries. English is your second language, and knowledge of German is advantageous. Moreover, you’re open to travel for projects.

At WTT, we embrace new developments without hesitation. You’ll receive significant responsibility and freedom. Our projects are highly appealing as they contribute to a more sustainable world. Additionally, we organize enjoyable and active events through an activities committee.

Does this sound appealing? We’d love to connect with you.

A selection from our projects

Peccioli

Italy

This is a new composting plant in Tuscany, Italy.

The 4 tunnels for processing wet digester are being constructed by a third party with an interface to WTT. In the Netherlands, channels and 24 skids have been manufactured and are being installed by the supplier under the supervision of a WTT Site Manager. The system includes channels, 4 scrubbers with an acid dosing system, and 4 biofilters with floors and biofilter material.

Plant capacity: 72,000 tons per year.

Montespertoli

Italy

This project revamps an existing plant in Tuscany, Italy.

24 tunnels are being equipped with new skids including fans and heat exchangers. Air treatment is being upgraded with new channels, scrubbers, and an acid dosing system while retaining the biofilters. Electrical renovation involves MCC cabinets and cabling. SCADA control is being replaced with WTT software. All of this is under a tight 2-month schedule for operational restart.

Plant capacity: 88,000 tons/year.

Halifax

Canada

The Halifax project is located on Nova Scotia island in Canada.

This initiative comprises 13 tunnels along with their associated equipment, such as air channels, composting skids, compost doors, air treatment, water systems, and software.

WTT is responsible for the engineering, equipment supply, and on-site supervision for this project.

This installation is intended to process 60,000 tons of waste per year.

ARN

The Netherlands

At ARN (Nijmegen), an existing composting facility is being expanded by approximately 40%, with minimal downtime for the existing setup.

It’s an exciting project involving WTT-typical equipment delivery and installation, including channels, fans, air scrubbers, acid dosing system, heat exchangers, and tunnel doors.

Intensive collaboration is taking place among the customer, civil engineering, and electrical companies.

A workday

8.30
You have your first (internal) meeting with the project team at 9AM. So you have half an hour to answer some mails and prepare yourself for the meeting. During this meeting you check and follow up on the actions and decisions made during the last meetings.

10.00
You have time to answer the remaining and new emails.

12.30
It’s lunch time! As it’s Monday you have a company lunch at the office with all colleagues! Great to speak to colleagues about their weekend and business activities.

13.00
You have an appointment with a supplier to finalize an order for the skids of your new project in Italy. The project team will support you with the technical details and purchase strategy.

14.00
You have a Team meeting with the WTT Site Manager to check the progress and situation onsite.
This actual update from site is required for the Teams meeting with the Project Manager from the client at 14:30 hours. During this meeting you record the Actions and Decisions made.

15.30
You have to update the MT (Management Team) regarding your projects’ progress and financial situation; what about margin development, potential risk, spending hours, invoicing, and cash flow? You will ensure that your (financial) project report is up-to-date before this meeting.

16.00
Tomorrow you will work from home so before you leave the office you would like to speak to a colleague in person about the FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) that took place earlier today. Are the electrical cabinets ready for shipment? The FAT report allows you to invoice the next payment milestone!

17.15
You close the day but before switching off my laptop you check the agenda for tomorrow, answer the last emails and approve some invoices and Purchase Orders.

Time to enjoy the evening, looking forward to tomorrow!

Ramon

Project Manager

Why did you choose us?
I started at WTT as a project engineer. The type and scale of projects greatly appealed to me. Over time, I progressed to becoming a project coordinator and eventually a Project Manager.

WTT is a great employer with a friendly, close-knit team, which strongly appeals to me.

What do you like about your job?
The responsibilities as well as the freedoms you’re given. The contacts you make around the world and the cultural differences that come with it. Moreover, your tasks aren’t highly confined, and you’re also given the space to take on things that don’t necessarily fall within your role. Visiting the site when a project is nearing completion is also very rewarding. It’s always impressive to see how things have taken shape over the months.

What do you do outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy working in the garage, tinkering with engines or old machines.

I also enjoy going out with friends or going on vacation with my wife and little daughter.

Why did you choose us?
When I was looking for a job, I didn’t want the standard machine-building work where you spend the whole day designing a single steel machine. At WTT, I immediately got a sense of diversity, with multiple international projects in a relatively small organization. That was exactly what I was looking for.

What do you like about your job?
Within WTT, there’s a lot of flexibility as long as you clearly express what you want. I found that I thrive best in a role where I coordinate and engineer projects. As the technical point of contact for customers, suppliers, and field service personnel, I’m responsible for our designs. The pressure that comes with it drives me to perform at my best. The young and dynamic engineering team works hard, and we’ve significantly improved our quality and continuity by doing as much detailed engineering as possible in-house. Moreover, we don’t just work with metals; we also work extensively with plastics, which allows me to keep expanding my knowledge in this area.

What do you do outside of work?
Outside of work, I’m highly active in basketball. I’ve coached various youth teams and served as the head of the technical committee within my association for six years. Currently, I’m coaching the top women’s team at my club, which is a fantastic new challenge. It’s interesting to see how I can elevate a group of women to a higher level, especially considering I mostly deal with men in the technical world.

Matthijs

Project Engineer

Robert

Project Manager

Why did you choose us?
At WTT, I can contribute to a livable environment by ensuring our waste is processed correctly and responsibly through our projects and services. Additionally, WTT’s size appeals to me: the company isn’t too large or too small. It’s big enough to have all the necessary facilities and expertise, yet not too large, maintaining a flat organizational structure with responsibilities distributed throughout the organization.

What do you like about your job?
As a Project Manager at WTT, I like that I have a high level of freedom and authority that aligns with my responsibilities. How you fulfill the role as a Project Manager is left mainly to the style that best suits each individual Project Manager. Of course, ensuring that everything needed to complete a project successfully is addressed is essential. A strong sense of self-initiative is crucial in this aspect.

What do you do outside of work?
I enjoy spending time outdoors: in my own garden and as a volunteer in and around the nature park in the heart of Almelo. Additionally, I’m often on my road or mountain bike and enjoy hiking with friends.
