No quick fix, but a sustainable solution

Sustainability has become the core of our business in recent years. It plays a fundamental role in your job: not only in our products and services, but also in our company strategy and the relationship with our customers. For example, our sustainability goals have led to a strategic shift in focus to Europe rather than serving customers all over the world.

As Manufacturing Engineer Composites, you are responsible for developing advanced composite structures and manufacturing processes for a diverse group of clients and markets that require both existing and completely new composite applications. You know better than anyone that an efficient manufacturing process is fundamental to a successful composite product that meets all customer requirements. You will be dedicatedly working on optimized composite solutions in terms of sustainability, cost-of-energy, ease of manufacturing, time to market and product quality. In several projects you may instruct and coach other professionals. You report to the Team Lead Manufacturing Engineering.

As an enthusiastic, inquisitive, and flexible Manufacturing Engineer Composites you are able to get things done, and that makes you a great asset to our team of engineers. You love to be challenged and you are eager to learn new things, people, and cultures. You are a genuine team player who can work smoothly with both the Pontis team and customer teams.

What makes this job special? At Pontis, you are literally engineering the sustainable difference every day. Whether it is in eMobility, renewable energy or sports: you are at the basis of the best advanced products that renew and improve the world. You will work with a variety of projects and customers involving you from start to finish, from concept creation to realization of the final product. Furthermore, you have many opportunities to travel and develop yourself in the direction you want.

Does this appeal to you? Then we would like to get in touch!

A month on the job

The month starts with working on the in-house developed wireless sensor, I did some pre-investigate and will now test the components in the lab. Together with a colleague we test several settings and report the outcome of the tests. In the meantime, I am also involved in the project start-up and discussions with the customer regarding a new project.
The week after that, I am traveling to one of our customers in Denmark (together with our business development manager). We demonstrate the capabilities of our sensor, and I am leading the test trials. Back home we evaluate the test results, and we define next steps together.

Towards the end of the week, I am called into another project. I need to support a few days because the team is low on resources. As a team we get the job done.
Back at the office, I continue working on the new cycle time reduction project, the project leader and tech lead update me regarding the status and requirements of the project. The rest of the week, I am preparing the trials in more detail, organizing all materials and tools to execute the work.
Besides my project tasks this week we have a team meeting with the full team, to keep each other up to date about what we are doing. I also spend time this week with our external coach, to work on my personal development and own goals I would like to accomplish.

Lead Project Manager

What do you like about your job?
Pontis is a forerunner in the development of new technologies within the Wind industry (and of course beyond), which can be used directly by our customers. What I like about my job is the variety, no project at Pontis is the same. Whether it is developing new technologies, products or supporting a customer with solving a complex issue, everything is possible. Traveling to (international) customers makes the work even more interesting and because of this you get to see other countries and you often get a look behind the scenes at customers. Besides working as a technical project manager, as a Team Lead I am responsible for the education and coaching of the team. It is very satisfying to see colleagues develop themselves, so that you can handle projects even better together..

Why did you choose us?
Due to the desire to move with the family from the busy Randstad to Friesland, I was looking for a new challenge. Preferably in a small close team and in an international environment, this is exactly what I found at Pontis.

What do you do besides your job?
Besides my job I like mountain biking, I like to walk with the family through the beautiful nature reserves in the north of the Netherlands and I love working in our (vegetable) garden. When there is time left, I like to work on my own building projects. In addition, I love playing (board) games, preferably having fun all evening with friends/family.

What do you like about your job?
The trust the company has towards me and the freedom I receive allows me to execute my responsibilities. The support I get from my colleagues without any hesitation, whenever it’s required. The exposure to various fields and the knowledge I gain gives me a feeling of pride as there is always something new to learn.

Why did you choose us?
I chose Pontis because of my passion and specialization towards composites was in line with the company’s vision. From day one of Pontis, up until now, I feel that I have made a right choice by joining Pontis.

What do you do besides your job?
I enjoy cycling in and around the city and solving puzzles occasionally. I also love cooking authentic dishes from various parts of India.

Klaas

Lead Manufacturing Engineer

What do you like about your job?
My work varies every day / week / month, within Pontis no project is ever the same, from R&D to process optimization, every project is different. Within my work I like to be challenged and this certainly comes into its own. Because of this variation I get to meet new people, you get different insights into things and this forms new inspiration for me. In addition to my project role within Pontis, I am lead of the process team, where I am responsible for the team and their development. I get a lot of energy from the development of my colleagues/team and that I can contribute to this.

Why did you choose us?
I came to Pontis through an internship, I was already very curious about what you could do with composites. With little real composite experience I started at Pontis, only with a mechanical engineering background and passion for technology. Within Pontis I was given the freedom to develop, challenge myself and see a lot in the process. Because of the different activities, close team, new challenges and my development is still growing within Pontis, I enjoy working at Pontis every day.

What do you do besides your job?
Besides my job I like to work with my hands, invent something and actually build it. I also like to eat well with friends and family. With regard to sports, I love mountain biking and rollerblading.
